HONG KONG COUNTERFEIT Hong Kong Counterfeit is a collaboration between a retro-futurist electronic musician named Inform3r and Eastern European designer and deejay, Katya Casio. The project was created to pay a tribute to early 80's dance music (Italo dance, eurodisco, etc..) from continental Europe. Hong Kong Counterfeit (HKC) released their first EP picture disc format featuring pictures of Katya Casio wearing clothes that she designed in collaboration with NY underground design guru Garo Sparo featuring soft focus photography by Rachel Kleinman. The name Hong Kong Counterfeit was inspired by a famous discotheque in Hong Kong during the 1980's named "Hollywood East." It catered strictly to eurobeat/italodisco fans. Since that time till now, the bootleg record market has been flooded with counterfeit mixes on record/tape/CD from this infamous club. Hollywood East became a legend and HKC's tracks have graced the dance floors of discotheques all over the world as well as the runways of high fashion designer shows in NYC. At the end of 2001 a Japanese model and artist Ayumi P. has joined the band adding a true Asian flavour to the sound of HKC. Currently all three members are working on new material for an upcoming full-length LP release. Which stylistically ranges from modernized Hi-energy Italo Disco, to dark grooves with a punk-gothic slant, featuring a pan-Asian theme. The tracks will include a live version of "Discotto Plastique" recorded during HKC's performance at NYC's legendary CBGB's and a number of brand new tracks like: "My Private Tokyo" (a tribute to a Canadian duo Vicious Pink), "Uneventful Life", "Opium Den", "Metal Disco Reprise" and many more.
